Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Watch your thoughts. They become words. Watch your words. They become deeds. Watch your deeds. They become habits. Watch your habits. They become character. Character is everything."

Importance of Pinging

We may have introduced a bug that was preventing the proper pings getting to Ping-O-Matic, which in turn made it hard for services like Technorati to keep up with the updates from WordPress.com. This post is testing that we fixed it.

Woo! Another Database

One of our primary databases has been offline for weeks thanks to some hardware problems. Thankfully we've been able to run without it, but the existing hardware was beginning to reach its limits, like driving a car on three wheels. The good news is: it's back. And over the next month we have a lotContinue reading “Woo! Another Database”

Pandora Sidebar

Andy suggested I check out Pandora and I've been enjoying it quite a bit lately. They have a RSS feed for things you mark as "favorites" so I've added that to my sidebar here using the nifty new widget stuff.

The sole panelist was a yoga teacher of some sort and had a really interesting perspective on how posture, breathing, stretching, etc can have dramatic effects. It was probably the first (only?) panel I’ve seen that actually got people to get off theirContinue reading “Creativity Panel”

At SxSW!

Here at SxSW, it’s looking good. Just caught the tail end of Andy Clarke’s and Andy Budd’s panel. Quite good, amazing slides.

Web and Email Woes

As you may have noticed, photomatt.net has been down along with mullenweg.com, which means that I can’t blog and I’m not getting any email. It’s very rough! There seems to be a hardware problem with the server, so hopefully the people at the DC can get it sorted soon enough and I can get backContinue reading “Web and Email Woes”
