Yeah! If you like japananese culture, ask someone about “Liberdade”, it’s a town in São Paulo mainly formed by Japanese and asian descendents. Great food and readings! Cheers and welcome to Brazil 😉

Yeah, that’s what i’ve heard. I live in São Paulo and there is a large Japanese colony formed between in early 1900s. I’m not a Japanese descendent but there is many cultural influence in my life, mainly in foods and some words. For instance, hashi is well known and most use them when in a Japanese restaurant.

Brazil do have the largest Japanese immigrants and their descendants living outside of Japan. I believe it was Sao Paulo. I have my grandparents’ cousin moved there as well. 🙂

That was because of the Brazilians with Japanese background who went back to Japan as imigrants. But I think this will change soon as the japanese government is paying them tickets to come back to Brazil.

I have heard that there are many Japanese descendants out there. Including my very very very distant relative, so I have heard…
Many immigrated there both pre- and post- WWII, believing that it is the land of the future.
There is a Japanese international football (… aka soccer) player named Tulio, who now has a Japanese Citizenship, but was born in Sao Paolo to a Japanese-Brazillian family.
