i used to apprentice, fur a couple years. i’ll be honest, we made a lot of bongs. they were in demand. i did all the shipping. we made 30 to 40, 1ft-2ft ‘water pipes’. soft glass, like dudes got up thurr. so i had to GENTLY use a drill press, w/ diamond bit; so’s pyrex kits could be added w/ a grommet.
we dint like making pipes. we were able to make some ‘show’ pieces. faberge-sh eggs, etc. some of our stuff was sold in gift shops, at museums. nothing like this guy, though. seems like it’d hurt his wrists…rolling, and holding that massive piece of molten glass. prolly 15-20lbs, yeah?

The Gaynor Glass Company had a factory in a small town near where I grew up. It was fun as a child to visit there and watch the craftsmen making hand-blown, custom-made glass items. Love the picture!
